The overall performance of this budget priced 18" driver in a moderate sized sealed enclosure is very good. Indeed this is the least expensive 18" driver that has been tested and in many ways it is comparable or better to some other drivers that cost twice as much. Displacement is solid for the cost of the driver and cosmetically it is a fine looking unit with none of the garish graphics that adorn many other drivers. Sensitivity is good compared to other long throw units and the inductance is better controlled than most long throw pieces. The resulting response shape is smooth and only down a couple of dB at 120Hz. Driver FS is nice and low. Distortion performance is also pretty darn good. Typically with drivers in this price range there are a couple of performance trade offs or shortcomings. Not much to complain about here considering the drivers sells for under $200. The woofer specs lend it to use in large EBS vented or even IB installs but mechanical power handling in large enclosures should be kept in check with the highly compliant suspension as it can be bottomed. Thermal handling seems to be less of an issue. The driver has linear enough response and enough motor force to also be used in moderate sized sealed enclosures as seen here. Power handling in a sealed enclosure is increased greatly. Multiple units of this affordable driver offer lots of displacement and clean sonics for very little money.
